Description
This seminar is based on the book Mathematische Bildverarbeitung (Mathematical Image Processing) by Kristian Bredies and Dirk Lorenz. In the seminar students will present selected chapters from this book. The goal is to study recent topics and techniques in mathematical image processing, focusing mainly on partial differential equations and variational methods. Both practical and theoretical aspects are considered.
The topics will be assigned in the first meeting, 19.04.2012. The expectations for each topic will be discussed individually with the student. The presentations should be 30 minutes long. Each seminar meeting will consist of one or two talks. The first presentation will take place on 31.05.2012. The detailed schedule for the further presentations will be announced later. The student must present and convey the main ideas of his/her topic in a way understandable for all students attending the seminar. The structure of the talk and the way of presentation (slides and/or blackboard) are up to the student. The presentations will be followed by questions and a discussion.
We expect each student to prepare his/her presentation and meet with the respective advisor one week before the talk. In the meeting, we will go over the presentation together and discuss possible difficulties. The students are invited to contact the lecturers anytime if there are any questions.
The evaluation will be based on the quality of presentation, difficulty of the topic and the participation in the discussions. Attendance at the seminar is mandatory.
